“I feel privileged to work with such dedicated and compassionate colleagues and courageous and inspiring clients. I like that I am helping to make a difference in someone’s life.”
Although the path to recovery is often long and challenging, time and time again I’ve seen the positive impact that our firm has on our clients and their families.
As a paralegal, I am involved in all parts of litigation, from first meeting a new client, to when the case is resolved at trial or through a negotiated settlement. I manage the progress of each file, keep the litigation moving along, engage with clients to ensure both sides are on the same page, and arrange independent medical appointments and resources that can assist with recovery.
We try our best to help clients through tough times. I take the time to listen to clients and their struggles, whether it be about finances or rehabilitation. Even if I can’t provide a solution, sometimes clients feel better or develop a plan after talking their problem through out loud. One client told me her biggest challenge was to accept who she is now, rather than expecting herself to go back to the way she was before her injury. She is an incredibly strong and inspirational individual.
I remind traumatic brain injury survivors that they are not alone. There are so many people and organizations with great experience and knowledge willing to help survivors and families through this rough time.
Seeing how clients feel after litigation is over is such a nice sense of relief. You can tell by their voice and mood that a big weight (that they’ve sometimes been carrying for years) is lifted and they can move on from the incident that changed their life.
I’ve been at the firm for 5 years now after starting my practicum and moving up since. Not everyone knows this about me, but I also have fashion business and creative arts diploma and I’m fluent in English and Cantonese. If I’m not here at the office, I’m hanging out with my puppy at the dog park – best way to spend the weekend!
